Outside Campus User Q&A (for the international students) in German Library

Though Tongji Campus and the German Library has not opened yet, you could still use the Library service. We have prepared guidelines for international students to quickly get the skills online.
Q 1: Can I borrow books from German Library as before?
A: We’ve made a lot of efforts to make it possible.
First, make sure you have the access to go back to campus, otherwise, the security guard at the gate will tell you to go back. Then, please follow the steps below:
Step 1
Find the book you want in the catalogue system of Tongji University Library AND make sure the book is shown as “in stock” and the collection site is “德文图书馆（German Library）”. Then take notes for the call number, title, author name and ISBN of the book.

You can change system language to English if Chinese is difficult for you to understand.

Step 2
Log in to “My Library”: https://www.lib.tongji.edu.cn/my/home/dashboard and make sure you don’t have any overdue books.

Step 3
Fill in the form of Borrowing Application Form of German Library Tongji University and make a promise on your borrowing by signing the form (please take a photo for your signature and put it into the form online), and send your borrowing form to the E-Mail : deulib@163.com

Step 4
The librarian will check the information of your borrowing form. If there are no mistakes, the book will be borrowed through the system and be put to the first floor of CDHK building.

Step 5
When you receive the reply and appointed hour in E-Mail or by telephone, please go to “My Library” https://www.lib.tongji.edu.cn/my/home/dashboard again to confirm the borrowing details. Then you can take the books with your ID card and Campus card from the guard on the first floor of CDHK building . And please sign the form printed by German Library again for keeping on a file.

Step 6
The books will be kept for three working days from the appointed hour. If you don’t come to take them in time, the books will be returned to the library and the borrowing will be cancelled.

Q2: How to use the academic databases for books and journals?
A: First of all, you need to log in to the TJ VPN system using your TJ Campus unified userID (student ID) and password.

Then you can download the MOTION PRO application for your device, e.g. laptops (either windows or MAC OS is ok). Follow the instruction steps to install.

Choose the right one to begin.

Springer and De Gruyter are for the books and journal papers.
WoS is for the Citation Indexes, including SCI-E, SSCI, A&HCI, DII, Medline etc.
