Lecture review: Informal Discussion of Ancient Chinese Characters and unearthed literature |

In December, Liu Zhao, a distinguished Professor of Fudan University and Yangtze River Scholars Award Program, addressed a lecture in the theme of ancient Chinese characters and unearthed literature. The superb lecture attracted many ancient Chinese character to enjoy the charm of it. The audience is full of people. To begin with, Professor Liu Zhao analyzed the related concepts of ancient Chinese characters and unearthed literature dialectically. Ancient Chinese characters, as the name implied, meant Chinese characters in ancient time. Its academic meaning refers to the unearthed text from the Shang Dynasty to the period of Emperor Han Wu. The unearthed literature was a concept corresponding to “legacy literature”. Its most essential feature was “unearthed”. This also determined that its content was more authentic and accurate than the handed down literature. The study of ancient writings and unearthed documents is of extraordinary significance and has irreplaceable important value. It can reinterpret vocabulary in handed down books, and provide important amendments and additions to handed down documents.
