Information literacy is an essential skill for college students, postgraduate students and researchers to complete their studies, conduct scientific research, broaden their horizons, and carry out lifelong learning. It is an important guarantee for cultivating innovative consciousness, improving innovation ability and scientific research ability. " Thesis proposal and writing" is a comprehensive test for postgraduate information literacy. In view of the current situation of postgraduate information literacy education, the Library Information Literacy Teaching and Research Department combined the current educational environment and the "Double first-class" construction goal of Tongji University and proposed a new information literacy education content that runs through the whole process of postgraduates’ research. In the form of a series of lectures, began in October 2019, the library' launcehed postgraduate “Thesis Opening” service month. The lecture provided 10 special lectures on 8 key issues related to literature retrieval and utilization during postgraduate research, which were held at Siping Road Campus and Jiading Campus respectively, attracting attention and participation in lectures of 1293 person-times from 35 colleges or research institutes. Data analysis and review is the best guide for future work. This article will comprehensively review the content of “Thesis Opening and Literature Retrieval and Utilization” series lectures from the lecture registration data, the content arrangement and lecture site. 1. Plan and content arrangement for series lectures The series lectures in this semester are based on the experience of postgraduate information literacy education in the past year and continue to be jointly researched and planned with the academic department of the postgraduate union. The main content of the series of lectures proposed by the Library Information Literacy Teaching and Research Department is to study the needs of graduate students by the Academic Department of the postgraduate union and select the two most necessary topics as the main lecture report of “Fenglin Forum” and “Jiayuan Forum”. Other content was used as a follow-up series lectures in October, when the demand for the postgraduate thesis is concentrated. The specific arrangement of the content is shown in the chart below.
The content of series lectures is arranged to pay attention to the systematization of the information literacy education for postgraduate research and the comprehensive analysis of key issues. It is hoped that through the series lectures, the postgraduate students will solve various problems in the literature retrieval and utilization in the scientific research process. The lecture team not only has senior teachers in the library information literacy teaching and research department, but also invited the library supervisor teaching leader, the library discipline and intellectual property service department patent analysis senior teacher and the Elsevier company literature analysis experts. By analyzing the college distribution and number of students from the registration data, we can see the universality and urgency of postgraduates’ demand, and find that the lecture arrangement requires in-depth research so as to provide teachers and students with demanding content at the right time. In order to provide information literacy education for teachers and students better, the library information literacy teaching and research department will carry out in-depth research.
