According to the latest ESI data released by Clarivate Analytics on July 11, 2019, the mathematics discipline of our school entered the ESI top 1%. Up to now, there are 12 disciplines in our school that have entered the ESI global top 1%. The current statistical time range is from January 1, 2009 to April 30, 2019.

The mathematics discipline of our school published a total of 981 ESI highly cited papers in the statistical period, with a total cited frequency of 4,266, and the average citation frequency per paper was 4.35, ranked 255th in the world's 255 research institutions of this discipline that entered the ESI global top 1%. (sorted by total cited frequency).

From the overall situation of our school, among the 22 ESI disciplines, all fields of ESI published a total of 34,832 academic papers, which were cumulatively cited 370,700 times and were cited 10.64 times per paper. There are 419 Highly Cited Papers and 25 Hot Papers, collectively referred to as Top Papers, with a total of 423 papers. Among the 5,957 institutions that entered the ESI top 1%, the ESI ranking of Tongji University (by total citation) rose to 397th. The detailed information of each discipline is shown in the table below. The position ratio indicates the international ranking of a certain discipline of Tongji University divided by the total number of institutions entering the ESI ranking.

ESI is an analytical database built on the basis of the collection and analysis of academic papers and references selected by SCIE/SSCI by Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters), which is currently recognized by the academic community as an analytical evaluation tool that measures scientific research performance and tracks scientific development trends. ESI conducts rolling statistics and sorts the total cited frequency of countries and regions, research institutions, papers, and individuals around the world in 22 subject areas, and the results are published every two months. In the same year, the number of cited frequency published in the same ESI discipline is ranked from high to low, and the top 1% of papers are highly cited papers.
