At 18:30 pm, Tuesday, September 24th, the experience activity "Reproduce traditional Chinese dessert – walnut cake" was successfully held at Tongji German library by Tongji University German Library in collaboration with Tongji Dessert Club. Several international students and Chinese students were invited to experience the entertaining process of making traditional Chinese dessert——walnut cake.

At the beginning of the activity, students in Tongji Dessert Club patiently introduced the raw material of walnut cake, and demonstrated the steps of making it. Students listened carefully to the explanation with huge curiosity. And some of them couldn’t help making their own Chinese dim sum immediately. Subsequently, with the help and guidance of Tongji Dessert Club staffs, everyone started to make. During the processes of sieving flour, beating eggs, kneading dough, molding and roasting, international students and Chinese students communicated and cooperated with each other cordially. Immersed in the fragrancy of walnut cake, everyone gradually became good friends. What’s more, students from different countries had a further understanding about each other’s culture in this activity.

Through this activity, we hope that students can not only learn how to make delicious Chinese traditional desserts, but also learn more about Chinese outstanding traditional culture. We also hope that Chinese students and international students can have more opportunities to interact and promote intercultural communication.
